Moonlight Paddle

Hi Everyone! I've stumbled across another interesting event in Collinsville, Moonlight Paddle, hosted by Collinsville Canoe & Kayak.  The event is held once a month in June thru August.  The next and last one for the summer will be August 28th.  Boat rentals are available between 8pm and 9:30pm and you must register to participate. Click on the link for additional info on rental fees and guidelines:  Collinsville Canoe & Kayak I'm in Collinsville often but didn't know about Moonlight Paddle until now.  I was lucky enough to have come on one of the nights.  The people that work at Collinsville Canoe & Kayak are very friendly.  Usually, by the time I get into town, they are closed.  This evening there were signs up for rentals and the boat launch was very active so I asked what was going on.  They were happy to provide the info and you could tell they take pride in the event.  I sat along the river on a bench and watched until around sunset.  They were very busy f

The Lavender Pond Farm

Hi Everyone! I want to take you away to a special place in Killingsworth....The Lavender Pond Farm.   I went there thinking I was going to find an entire lavender field to go through and I was completely wrong.  The farm is set up so that you drive one way in and one way out, which is great for parking and the flow of traffic since you are free to walk all over the entire farm.  You can even just drive right thru for a short scenic drive.  There is a souvenir shop to your left as you drive in and the lavender field is to your right.  In the field, there are trees, a gazebo and also a small picnic area with about 4 tables.  The lavender is set up in sections and within those sections are brick walkways to walk thru.  It's a stunning set up with a really cool enlarged chess set in the middle, complete with benches to sit on. When you walk further up there is the pond with a trail that runs around it.  Upon entering the trail and just before you walk over the small bridge there is a l

I spent most of yesterday editing so a break was needed.  I went to my happy place, Rockwell Park, in Bristol where I go to unwind and just do me.  Coffee and cameras in hand I made my way down by the old concession building.  It was my intention to get scenic shots and maybe sit in the sun for a few. I get down the steps near the pond and I see a whole bunch of ducks rushing over to my side.  That had me curious because as many times as I've been here, I've never seen all the ducks in this pond.  I usually find them in the second pond farther back in the park.  I go over to the brick wall and they are all staring at me.  Of course,  I have nothing to feed them and they appear to be glaring at me as if they are wondering what the hell am I doing over there with no food? Now I feel terrible and figure I better just go on abo
