The West Cornwall Bridge

Image
Hi Everyone! Some of you may have seen my picture of the West Cornwall Bridge in Cornwall, CT recently.  This is a very beautiful covered bridge made of wooden lattice-truss that spans the Housatonic River. The bridge supports one lane of traffic for the Sharon-Goshen Turnpike and is estimated to have been build around 1864.  In 1975, the bridge was listed with the National Register of Historic Places. Driving on the bridge, there isn't the creaky sound that you would hear driving over wood.  I'm quite certain that is due to the bridge being reinforced with a concealed steel deck in 1973. This is a very beautiful covered bridge and if you haven't seen it yet I would definitely recommend putting it in your bucket list of things to do.  There is a cozy little restaurant just after you cross it to your right that is within walking distance to the bridge.  There are also benches along the river to sit and take in the view, as seen in the picture above, as well as
