Welcome to New Haven

Image
Hi Everyone! This weekend has certainly been interesting with the weather acting like its uncertain what season it was wants to be in.  However, it was gracious to me while I had some fun down in New Haven. What I really like about New Haven is that its always very busy, you see many different people and activities happening.  I like to think of it as a slight preview before you get to New York... Many people are waiting for the bus....some are talking on their cell phones, listening to music or just standing around taking in the scene. My son elected to get himself in the next shot....somehow he figured I wouldn't see him.  He underestimates me, lol. Here he is again as we head to Buffalo Wings for lunch.....and what a good lunch it was! Back out on the street again.....ALOT of traffic.  You see a little bit of everything on the main streets.  Its been awhile since I've seen anyone riding with a boom box.  I really got that "Big City"

Rockville, Connecticut: The Hockanum Mills

Hi Everyone, It looks like the warmer weather is finally upon us!  That being said, I’ve been out and about seeing people and things, lol.  Which brings me to the Town of Rockville……have you been there lately?  It’s one of those little towns that I think gets overlooked.  It’s a small section of Vernon and appears a bit run down but you have to look beyond that.  There is a lot of construction going on there presently so its an up and coming town.  Rockville has quite a bit of interesting history to it. The downtown section has e a few older, beautiful structures on the main street but what caught my eye was the Hockanum Mills.  I like where it’s situated.  The mill is located on an uphill bend and when you are standing at the top, the view gives the impression of a once prominent mill overlooking the town.   These are photos of the mill at the top of the hill with its name facing the town: This is the part I really enjoy ….often I start poking around for different an

The Mystique & Harbor Park

Hi Everyone,   I was recently at Harbor Park and the Mystique from the Lady Katharine Cruises was docked there.  She began her sailing almost 20 years ago in the New York Harbor by providing tourists with breathtaking views of New York City.  Since 2004, she has been sailing the Connecticut River and hosting many events such as weddings, proms, milestone and corporate events.  If you haven't had the opportunity to board the Mystique, I encourage you to do so.  I've been aboard for a few events and have had a great time.  The Mystique is set up with two enclosed dining areas and a tented observation tent, which I have also had the pleasure of enjoying a cool summer breeze from.  The cruise along the Connecticut River is both relaxing and breathtaking.  Here's a sneak peek from Harbor Park: Harbor Park is also home to the Mattabesett Canoe Club where you can dine while enjoying views of the Connecticut River.  The Canoe Club is only open during the warm
