The Drive Home

I was driving home today thinking to myself that its a shame that I can't drive and take pictures at the same time.  I turned off the radio and was watching the different directions the sun was going.  One minute it was blinding me, the next it was on the side of me and then behind me causing the most beautiful reflections.  This is the type of thing that we don't take notice of on a daily basis as we are going from one place to another.  We tend to be too busy to notice everyday beautiful things, that yes, we all take for granted.  I guess today was my day to see how beautiful the sun is.  I saw the sun reflect off foliage, cars, water and finally set.  Take a few minutes one day on your drive home from work or wherever you may be coming or going, turn off your radio, clear your mind and just look around you.  The birds will be louder than you've ever heard them, the sun will be twice as bright and I guarantee you will see or notice som...

Arrigoni Bridge

Image
Hello Everyone, Last weekend I took a trip to Portland and photographed the Arrigoni Bridge, more popularly known as the Portland Bridge, which connects Portland and Middletown over the Connecticut River.  The bridge was named after state legislator Charles J. Arrigoni and is the longest bridge in Connecticut.

The Ruins of the Stocking Mill in Cotton Hollow in Glastonbury, CT. The mill supplied gunpowder to George Washington's Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and was one of four gunpowder mills in New England. The mill was owned and operated by George Stocking and his three sons. However, in 1777 there was an explosion and the mill was destroyed. George, two of his sons, and two workers were killed. His wife, Eunice, rebuilt the mill and continued supplying gunpowder until the end of the Revolutionary War. This is what remains of the rebuilt mill.  The first picture is a close up of the remaining structure.  The second picture is what can be seen as you are approaching the remains from the trail.

I'm pleased that you have stopped by and hope that you continue to do so in the future.  My blog is my way of sharing my view of the world with you.  I love to work with my camera and am constantly capturing moments as I see them.  Thank you for visiting my blog...Welcome! and Enjoy! :) These two photos were taken on a quiet afternoon during the week.  It was the perfect beautiful day, probably one of the last warm, sunny days before we head into the winter.  These two both appeared to be reflecting and enjoying the warm sun.  The girl on the river, I actually found by accident.  I was coming around a big tree and just happened to see her there.  She looked so content and peaceful sitting there....how often do you see our younger generation just sitting and enjoying the day without their phone or some sort of electronic device?         This gentleman was truly enjoying the warm sun.  He was sitting in his cha...
