Wethersfield Cove

Image
Last week, the weather was still on the dismal side but the temperature was bearable so I went down to the Cove in Wethersfield.  Surprisingly, I wasn't the only one down there but I was the only one out there with a camera.  I imagine those that were there were wondering what on earth could I have been photographing?  I can't blame them because at first nothing really caught my eye.  I've been down to the Cove a few times but its usually during the summer so everything looked very different.  At first all I saw were the birds hunting for fish and I wasn't too interested in that.  I turned to the left and saw a structure that I didn't recall seeing before.  I'm sure its always been there but most likely I've never noticed because the trees were covering it and I'm usually focusing on the water activity.  This is what I saw...... Take a moment and double click on the sign above that gives you a little background history into the Cove...

Working with Fog

Image
I've always found fog to be interesting.  It can give an aura of mystery to a scene, can be dangerous depending on its density and can make it appear as if you're in a whole other world once you are engulfed in it.  I took some pictures in the fog the other day, take a look: Normally, I prefer to shoot in black and white but I felt that had I done these in black and white I would have lost the look of the picture that I was going for.  I like seeing the contrast against the softness of the fog. I hope to have more opportunities to work with the fog so be on the lookout! Til next time, K

Meet Henry

Image
Hello Everyone, I'm so excited to share with you one of the most fabulous photo sessions I had the pleasure of doing!  Meet Henry......he's almost 9 months old and is absolutely the cutest and happiest little boy I've ever photographed. The session was done at Hillstead Museum in Farmington.  This was my first time at this museum and let me tell you, it is beautiful!  Henry's parents chose to have him photographed here because of how scenic it is.  The weather wasn't too cold, but still had quite a bit of snow on the ground.  Henry was excited the moment I walked up to him and said hello.  He giggled and gave me one of his big, beautiful smiles.  He was very animated, cheerful and an extreme pleasure to work with.  See for yourself......... At the end of the session, I took a family photo with Mom and Dad..... They are just the cutest family! To see more photos of Henry, be sure and visit my website at www.klamarphotography....

Waiting for A New Addition

Image
Its a very special time in life when you are expecting a new little one into your family.  Whether it's the first baby or the second or third, its a special time....each in its own very unique way.  Babies bring closeness to families and in particular to couples.  Two people have created a little one that is made up of each of them, that in itself is amazing. A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a couple that is expecting their second baby this summer.  At the time of this session, they did not know whether they were having a boy or a girl.  Mom and Dad were very loving and attentive to each other and it was apparent that they were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their new addition.  These are a few of moments of their special time that they can cherish forever........ Just last week, the happy couple has learned that they are expecting another baby boy!  Congratulations to them both!! K

The Calm Before The Storm

Image
The Governor has spoken....some areas will get up to a foot of snow and schools are closed for tomorrow.  I went out for a loaf of bread and didn't think it was going to be such a difficult task.  I grabbed the last loaf the store had, lol.  People were everywhere with overloaded shopping carts and checkout lines were a mile long.  The lines at the gas stations were ridiculous and I'm asking myself if we're in danger of being without food and gas for quite some time.  I must be the odd one because I'm looking forward to staying in the house tomorrow.  This is New England and I've been here all my life, this is the norm.  Am I tired of this weather right now?  Absolutely, but this is what it is. Now, it is eerily quiet outside....there are a few people out here and there but for the most part its very quiet.  And so we wait.......be safe everyone.

Our Beautiful Children

Image
Hello All, How many of you have kids?  I have two and I love them with all I am....or as I often tell them, to the moon and back, lol.  I remember the minute they were born and all their milestones.  Time really flies, they are infants one minute and the next graduating high school!  In this day and age, its all too easy to take a picture with your phone and share it however way you wish to.  But what happens after that?   Do you keep going to your phone or media site to which you have shared it to see it? I still like framed pictures around my house and on the walls.  I like walking through my house and seeing my kids, don't you?  The pictures make me smile and most of all, they take me back to all those great times and moments.  In a way, its like freezing time. These are some of the pictures I've taken in the last few years of kids, including my own.  Kids are so precious and they grow up in a blink of an eye.  Take a look at...

My Inspiration

Image
Hello Everyone, Are you ready for Spring?  I know I am!  Hang in there....just a little bit longer. Someone asked me yesterday what makes me take certain picture, i.e. do I randomly take pictures, just because.  That's an interesting question, yes and no.  I'll be honest, a lot of times I have no idea what I'm going to come up with until I've done it.  Other times, I may leave the house with something specific in mind and just head there.  Not all my pictures are picture perfect either.  There have certainly been afternoons where I've been out for hours and then I'm not happy with even one shot I took.  Do I consider it a waste?  Absolutely not!  I'm doing what I love and I'm happy with it, not to mention I'm constantly learning what works for me and what doesn't. Here's an example of something I did randomly: You've seen these two pictures and I'm using them as examples because I've gotten many positive responses o...
