Hi Everyone! Yesterday I spent the afternoon at Devil's Hopyard State Park located in East Haddam, Connecticut.....what a beautiful place!  The park is free to get into and has plenty of parking.  There are also many picnic tables to hold family gatherings and a camp site that is open mid-April til September 30.  The campground holds 21 sites. Points of interest in the park are the covered bridge, Chapman Falls and the Devil's Oven.  I love to photograph covered bridges....they are beautiful structures. This covered bridge was built in 1986 and is 36 feet long.  The bridge crosses over Eight Mile River, which is well known for its brook trout. Hi Everyone! Can you believe this weather?  Frigid, below temps one minute then a quick warm up and back to the cold again.  Its not as bad as it was this past weekend but cold nonetheless.  Hopefully, Spring is just around the corner. I've been out exploring again and this time ended up in the Town of Glastonbury.  I grew up there but its been awhile since I've been out exploring the area.  One of my favorite spots is down at the Ferry Landing, the nation's oldest operating ferry service that crosses the Connecticut River between Glastonbury and Rocky Hill. The ferry doesn't operate in the winter months but I still come down here from time to time just to enjoy the scenery.  There are benches and picnic tables for anyone to come down and relax, read a book or have lunch.  This view is from the Glastonbury side looking over into Rocky Hill.  In the warmer months you are able to walk out on the landing to the right of the piers and sit. ...

Hi Everyone, I'm sure most of you are on one or more of the social media sites, its kind of hard not to be these days.   Social media has pretty much taken over.  I enjoy social media and use different sites for different purposes. Let's start with the beginning, Facebook.....Facebook is a great tool keep in touch with family and friends near and far.  Its also a good tool to use in terms of showcasing any interests that you may have, along with creating new friendships via the many, many groups that are on there.  I have gotten to know many talented photographers on Facebook through groups that I've elected to join.  You have the option of creating your very own personal page or creating a Business Fan Page.  There is also the capability of linking the two pages or linking the two but having two very different audiences depending on what settings you create with respect to who you allow access to.  The really cool part about Facebook is that ...

HI Everyone, I know, I know its been awhile. My apologies...I could give a million excuses but the truth of the matter is I lost sight of my passion.  I've experienced many changes, both personal and professional, in the last year....some very good and some not so good.  My original plan for myself has changed.  I have missed shooting and writing.  Its a part of me and I realize that not doing either one just doesn't feel right so here I am....to stay. I started out on this journey not really knowing what direction I was headed in.  I know I have a flair for writing and I love to take pictures.  My head is constantly thinking and creating, however, I let things in everyday life get in the way of what I want to do...what I NEED to do. I'll never be a wedding or portrait photographer.....never, ever.  I just don't have it in me to do posed shots.....I find no excitement there.  I don't knock other photographers, that is their passion and some ...

Hi Everyone! Is it true?  Has Spring finally made its arrival?  It appears it has....Saturdays's high was 78 and I don't know about you but I enjoyed every minute of it!   It was good to see everyone out and about, laughing, playing, and walking their dogs..... Spending quality time with a loved one.....always make the time :) Catching up with friends....when you really stop to think about it, how often were you able to get out and visit family and friends?  Hopefully, everyone got out yesterday and took advantage of the weather.  These two shared some girl chat for awhile, which is always fun. Hi Everyone! Has this been one long, crazy winter or what?  Last month we had at least one storm a week, unbelievable!  We've seen the weather change from stormy, foots of snow, and dangerously icy to sunny and cold.  This week, we have 50 degree weather one day and bitter cold and wind the next. Below are pictures that I took over the course of the season....some on cold, snowy days and others later on in the season as it begins to warm up.  You will see some places that I have visited before but during a warmer season.  Places look very different as the seasons change.  My biggest fascination this winter was the Connecticut River.  I visited different parts of the river in different towns and watched how the river froze.  I highly doubt it froze all the way through to the bottom but it definitely appeared to freeze on top, its silence was surreal. Hi Everyone, I have a question....what makes a great picture?  What does that mean to you?  Many photographers show their work via various photography groups and social media, including myself.  We all hope that we'll get many likes, positive feedback and anything else that may stroke our egos about our work. Any person that says otherwise is not being truthful.  Who wouldn't want everyone to love their work?  The reality is we may get a few likes on some photos, some not at all, and others hailed as Photo of the Year.  Up and coming photographers are often discouraged when they are not overnight successes.  As with anything, success requires much effort, time and patience.  Don't be discouraged, continued shooting.  Shoot everyday, often, and only what intrigues you and how you want to shoot it. So what if your picture doesn't look like the next photographer's work....is it supposed to?  I certainly hope not.  Your pictures are y...
